Multiple distractions plague Tobias’s attentions as new facts and relationships
are brought to light and Rashia begins to resent being deliberately kept away from Kate as she tries to get closer to
Tobias. Tired of the misdirection, Rashia reveals herself to Kate.
Upon meeting Rashia, Kate morphs, acquiring the spell weaver’s eyes, a trait that allows Rashia to copy the spells of
others. The magic gets out of control, leading to utter chaos and frightening
Kate. Unable to pacify the screaming girl Rashia attempts to take responsibility, culminating in Tobias’s death.
When magic fails to restore Tobias, Rashia is horrified and heartbroken, left to explain to Kate what death and life are.
Kate, in her panic calls for her mother.
An entity known as the Watcher, responsible for looking after some of Kate's
children, appears and Rashia pleads for assistance, attempting to sway it by admitting her affection for Tobias.
The Watcher casually shrugs her off, saying that Tobias will die many times due to his connection with Kate and that
death is merely a part of evolution. He tells the women to figure it out for themselves, that Kate's done it before,
and then he departs. Valero arrives to investigate the scene suggesting,
Rashia teach Kate a spell to bring back Tobias. Kate temporarily overcomes her fear of magic and with Rashia’s
assistance, manages to bring Tobias back. Rashia confesses her feelings
to the newly awakened Tobias. Tobias attempts to disengage her sudden affections. The discussion leaves Rashia
in tears as Valero comes to move Tobias into the clinic.
Meanwhile, after a nasty fight Khann and Pala are no longer sharing a room and
Pala, aware of a new attraction to Inigo, is unsure how to handle the situation. Xinn, disgruntled over Pala’s
divided heart which would interfere with her experiments, kidnaps Inigo and Khann. When she follows to save the
men, Krieg forces Pala to choose between the two. Pala seems to make some sort of decision in the end, saving Inigo
from a fire and letting Khann drop into a pool of water. Pala gives
Khann her heart however, saving his life by Polarian magic and creating an intense bond between the two. She patches
things up with Inigo and things begin looking up.
Tobias bends time, coming back fully healed as his body in the clinic fades
away. He begins abusing Kate and he looses self-control. He begins drinking and taking potions to cope with his
emotional mood swings. Attempting to understand Tobias’
emotional void, Khann picks a fight. After backing out, Tobias let’s Khann kill him again, but in a way Pala would find
out, in the hopes of destroying their happy new relationship. Khann throws Tobias from the roof, snapping his neck.
Pala and Inigo discover the body and remembering something from her past, Pala
screams and hides from him. Khann comes charging into the courtyard and accuses Pala and Inigo of a tryst behind his
back. Pala becomes indignant and brings Inigo inside where Khann peruses them with Tobias’ corpse and more accusations
of infidelity. Pala drags Inigo towards the pool to get to safety. In the process her Polarian sisters send her
a vision of what happened on the roof. Horrified, Pala spends the night curled up on a pool chair while Inigo keeps
guard.
Kate brings Tobias back a second time and the temporal shifting gets so bad
that Ariadne senses it. She warns Tobias not to play with magic too much, as it is disrupting the future. No one
will take Ariadne seriously however, despite her dire protestations that there is a perfect possible future on the horizon.
Khann storms Tobias’ room demanding a meaning for what happened, why he tried to ruin his relationship with Pala.
Tobias lies through his teeth and manages to get off relatively unscathed, leaving everyone else to pick up the pieces.
