The relationship between Tranns and Lucien has been difficult for months as Tranns deals with adding yet another role to the multitude of roles she already plays; that of Star's mother.  Despite multiple conversations with both Adriana and Valero, Tranns is unable to reconcile it all and the strain begins to show.  Adding to the tension in the House is the appearance of Ganondorf Dragmire at a meeting.  He makes a few idle threats, but the Phoenix Fighters manage to drive him off.  For fear of a return of Philip Dragmire, Philip is removed from the strike team until his estranged father's intentions can be determined and Tranns is put in charge.  Anxious and on edge, the House waits.

It isn't long before Ganondorf returns, this time in the bar where he is confronted with several Phoenix Fighters.  Despite their gallant defense of Philip, the Phoenix Fighters suffer a massive shock when Dragmire beats Tranns with a strange Hylian artifact.  The air around her ripples and before their eyes, Tranns is split into two different people.  Dragmire is driven off and Valero and Casey are called in to examine the results of the battle.  It is declared that Tranns has been split by her genes.  One of the new entities is Tranns as a full Hylian.  The other is Tranns as a full Risan.  When Valero examines each one in turn, he notices that most of Tranns' personality traits have also been split between the two, the Hylian Tranns demonstrating her love of poetry and art and music while the Risan Tranns maintains Tranns' discipline and self confidence and fierce loyalty.

A confused Lucien becomes the protector of the Hylian Tranns, far less independent and capable than her Risan half.  The Risan Tranns is jealous of his attention for her, leading to several shouting matches.  Despite Lucien's affection for her, as Risan Tranns so rightly points out, Hylian Tranns is more concerned for Star.  The reason why Lucien and the real Tranns have been having so many problems, Risan Tranns explains, is because she cannot reconcile being a mother and being a lover.  Lucien has to admit this is true, but he still shows great disdain for the Risan Tranns, even though she possesses all of the fire and passion.

Ganondorf Dragmire returns.  With very little difficulty, he manages to kidnap the Hylian Tranns.  When he makes no ransom demands, Adriana and Aden are forced to admit that this was his plan all along, although they cannot say why.  Philip hastily assembles a team - Valero, Ariadne, Pala, Lucien, and the Risan Tranns - and they head out to the Gerudo Valley to track down and rescue the Hylian Tranns.  Philip's sister, Nassan, offers them hospitality on Savra territory for the night and promises to provide Philip with an underground map of the Valley that will help him sneak into Dragmire's territory.  Meanwhile, Valero, Pala, and Risan Tranns engage in a lively conversation about passion.  Pala admits that she is afraid to show any, as her Polarian powers are still beyond her control and she's afraid of hurting someone, in particular, Khann.

The next day, the team heads out, following Nassan's map directly under Ganondorf's castle.  Ariadne, taking point, witnesses Ganondorf as he prepares the Hylian Tranns for some kind of ritual that requires the use of a full, Hylian Triforce Guardian.  Suddenly, a Codiac Delta calls him away, telling him that someone is attacking the front gate.  Ariadne rushes back and brings the others into the chamber.  The guard runs to get reinforcements and Ganondorf returns almost immediately, fresh from a fight with Khann who has followed the group.  A battle breaks out and Ganondorf attempts to start the ritual, but the Risan Tranns throws herself over the Hylian Tranns.  This brings an abrupt end to the experiment, dissolving the artifacts and ending Ganondorf's scheme.

While the team drives Ganondorf off, Hylian Tranns laments the loss of her counterpart, who dies on the floor of the chamber, having saved her life.  Valero offers a way to restore Tranns to her original form, despite the death of the Risan Tranns.  Though right now, the Hylian Tranns is more at peace with herself than she has ever been, she realizes the need of her other half.  Valero uses his splitting fork and merges the two of them, restoring the original Tranns.
